From the Artist
The process begins with selecting rare exotic or domestic wood. I look for fascinating knots, burls, and signs of scars sustained during the plant's life. Inspired by flowers, leaves, and the natural world, I sketch the basic designs. Using saws and abrasive sanding tools, I sculpt each unique piece by hand. This allows for more dimensional creativity, without the limitations seen in machined wood works, or the cylindrical shapes produced on a lathe. The sculpture is sanded to a smooth surface, sealed with a clear finish to preserve the original beauty, and burnished with wax. Finally, each piece is branded with my signature.
